Book of Shadows Wicca

Thank you for visiting the Wicca Pentacle’s page on the Book of Shadows Wicca

The term, Book of Shadows was originally used by the British Occultist Aleister Crowley, to describe a book of spells which he devised over the years.

Please visit regularly to keep updated on seasonal and special spells from the Wicca Pentacle’s Book of Shadows.

There is an overarching principle which governs the creation and use of magic spells. This is known not only to practitioners of the various expressions of Wicca, but also more generally amongst most pagans and magic practitioners.

As you will discover when you work with magic, it is perfectly possible to deliberately cast a bad spell which will bring harm to someone else.

However, before dismissing the possibility that you would  ever do such a dreadful thing, please consider this ...

Things happen. It is not just that we might become upset about some injustice to ourselves which we might in the heat of the moment, conclude would best be solved by them getting their just desserts. Someone close to us can be the injured party.

Often this can be a more powerful lever pushing us to exact justice. Whilst we might decide to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune for our own hurt, someone close to us being hurt can pull on the hair trigger. Before we know that we have done it, we have summoned all Hell to be brought to the offender.

Many Wiccans describe this by stating that any hurt we do to another will come back to us threefold. Most Wiccans and witches caution against firing off bad spells.

However, there is an underlying philosophy of spells which derives from how they work. The Wicca Pentacle course gives a deep and complete understanding of these principles and how we do not need to cast bad spells to actually succeed and help others

Good Spells -v- Evil Spells

In the Christian tradition, good actions are promoted for their goodness per se, rather than from any spiritual or magical philosophical consideration or the weighing up of pros and cons.

It is easy to see why this premiss is held and it is easy to agree with it. After all, there can be no sense to kicking someone when they are down. Common sense says that that is wrong.

Wicca magic and many Pagan beliefs agree with the premiss. The Wicca Pentacle Society simply goes further and gives a philosophical reasoning which shews that it is true.
